As a Footwear Design Apprentice I had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the footwear industry while working on and contributing to real-word products and creative directions. During this time I attended an intensive one month course at Pensole academy, gathered and distilled trend research for senior designers and took on design packs made up of multiple products.After less than a year of apprenticeship my performance earned me a permanent role on the footwear design team.

As a craftsman at Apparatus I work within the finishing team of the fabrication department. All lighting fixtures are made in-house at the brand's production facility in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The craft team oversees the finishing touches that go into orders, this includes leather and suede application, staining, sanding and repairing wood, applying horse hair, precious stone cataloging and quality control, and prepping and assembling brand packaging. I am able work with the rest of the finishing team when I'm needed applying patina, carefully polishing, waxing, and buffing all components of Apparatus fixtures. Apparatus has a dedication to craft and quality and throughout my time as an employee I have and continue to train my eyes to focus on the details of my work.

As a shop Technician at The New School Making Center I oversaw the use and training of students on industry tools, making processes, and building materials and helped students with varying skillsets plan and execute school projects. I worked between the Metal shop and the Wood shop. These spaces are open to all New School students after they have been properly trained by a technician like myself, they are able use the spaces freely. My most important role in these spaces was to ensure that the shops were maintained and managed to create an efficient, healthy, and safe work environment. I am able to give instruction on a wide ranch of making practices involving both metal;welding (MIG, TIG, oxy acetylene), soldering, cold bending, hot bending, CNC plasma cutting, fine metal and jewelry making, patinaing, as well as wood;proper gluing, chiseling, wood joints, construction, use of lathe, routing, sanding, finishing, geometry and cut planning and carving.

For four consecutive summers I worked abroad as a private swim instructor for children ages 4-13. I organized up to 14, 30 minute, group or 1 on 1 classes a day. My students ranged from beginners to intermediate swimmers. My role as an instructor was to create an environment that encouraged and challenged my students and their specific needs, whether that was simply getting comfortable being a pool or structured workout plans that emphasized endurance and technique.I managed scheduling, assessed individual students, navigated communication in an international setting and built strong personal relationships with those within the community of Ras Tanura Public Pool.
