- Conducts DNA and RNA isolations from various sample types (stool, saliva, wastewater, etc.) using Zymo DNA Isolation kits or Qiagen PowerSoil Pro kits.- Quantitates nucleic acid concentrations for extracted samples.- Performs MetaPolyzyme, Proteinase K, and/or spike-in on samples in preparation for DNA/RNA extraction.- Conducts DNA cleanups (wash) to remove contaminants or unwanted substances from client DNA samples.- Performs library preparation to prepare fragmented DNA or RNA samples for high-throughput sequencing.- Extensive exposure to bioinformatics workflows including taxonomic profiling algorithms. - Adheres to quality management system and laboratory standard operating procedures.- Maintains a clean, functional laboratory environment, performing equipment and instrument maintenance, calibration, and certification as required.- BLS2 Laboratory working experience along with experience in a CLIA Laboratory setting.- Demonstrates understanding of aseptic technique, with a focus on pipetting (lab etiquette).
