I am responsible for leading the fundraising, research, development, and delivery of UKNC's strategic investment programme, Local to Global. Local to Global aims to build a more resilient and adaptive network of UNESCO-designated sites and ensure that UK society continues to feel the benefits of UNESCO membership. Each of our 60 UNESCO Sites are place-based multi-stakeholder partnerships, and together cover 13% of the UK's landmass and 144 parliamentary constituencies. Achievements include:- Leading fundraising efforts between 2023-2026 that successfully contributed an additional 25% net increase on original organisational income.- Pioneered new horizon scanning and futures techniques across four nations of the UK to improve organisational decision making and performance.- Introduced community grants which devolve power and decision making and incentivise UNESCO sites to collaborate as regional/national clusters to address shared challenges.- Presented findings at national and international events including delivering a keynote address at the 217th session of the UNESCO executive board in Paris.- Line management of a small staff team including a part-time project coordinator and a range of freelance consultants with expertise in audience development, financial resilience and digital transformation.- Negotiated a groundbreaking research partnership with Creative PEC to research the role of UNESCO Sites as cultural anchor points that support creative subsectors.- Taking responsibility for advising on, developing and implementing national and international policy on culture. One of the key policy interventions I have made is to acknowledge that new forms of participatory governance are required to help create financial and human resource resilience that can tackle interconnected challenges.

I take primary responsibility for planning, researching, organising and delivering 'Local to Global - Building a resilient UNESCO network in the UK', a high-profile project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The aim of this project is to help UK UNESCO Designation Site Coordinators to engage with new audiences, develop community celebration of world-class natural and cultural heritage, and share best practice through a mutually supportive and more resilient network. This will lead to more people enjoying the UK UNESCO Global Geoparks, Biosphere Reserves, and World Heritage Sites, as well as encouraging greater diversity of stakeholders, partners, and communities.

Ikon is an internationally acclaimed art gallery situated in central Birmingham, offering free entry to all. Founded in 1965 as an artists-led alternative space, it has evolved into one of the most internationalist artistic programmes in Europe combining established with emerging artists.

Working across a culturally diverse region I specialise in taking a creative approach to problem solving and co-designing new projects with local people that are in-keeping with regional and national policy. As part of the senior team my responsibilities include regularly managing project budgets up to £100,000, developing associated fundraising bids, shaping our organisation’s strategy, reporting and evaluating data collections. My role and job description has changed over the years to match my strengths and flexibility. I manage a broad portfolio of community-focused creative campaigns, provide a main point of contact for key partners, speak at and represent my organisation at major public events and build new cross-sector relationships locally, nationally and internationally
