Our little import business if focused on winemakers who participate in all stages of vineyard management, harvest, pressing, and winemaking. They often use natural yeasts and minimal intervention techniques and organic vineyards. I am also working with some winemakers to encourage pollinator friendly vineyard management. We are also developing a conservation project to be funded by wine that is donated by our winemakers.

With my wife - who studied landscape architecture, we have planned and installed restoration projects on public and private land, and advised or designed gardens. We design to support pollinators and birds, and use paths and other features that inspire the imagination of children.

Santiago Metropolitan, Chile

Lead biologist developing a restoration and recovery plan for a sclerophyllous ecosystem and rangeland impacted by a large fire. For this project I worked remotely from the US. Thus fare we developed the project proposal and method for assessing the possible restoration techniques that might be employed. I had previously worked with DAES Consultores to draft feasibility studies and environmental impact statments - Although I was living in Chile at the time.

Greater Seattle Area

In this temporary position, I mostly teach a graduate course on forest ecology, in which students develop their skills in using scientific papers and data we collect in order to produce scientific papers. I have the task of thoroughly critiquing these papers. We also collect a mountain of data and practice using various techniques such as "ordination" to try to draw conclusions from the data.

Santiago, Chile

Research and write chapters of feasibility studies, environmental impact statements. Co-ordinate with engineers and other planners to optimize designs and studies. It was fun living in Chile again, but it was just while we visited my wife's relatives, and our little family had to come back to the PNW.
