I transitioned to Aldi Stores from McDonalds as I saw it as a unique opportunity to further my management experience gained from McDonald's into a new branch of retail. It also provided the benefit of being located closer to home as I had recently moved to the Blue Mountains at the time, where McDonalds stores were far between and I had commenced studies in bachelors of business and commerce. Whilst completing my studies in Business and Commerce I was a fulltime manager with Aldi stores beginning in the rank of trainee manager and later progressing through the roles of assistant store manager and store manager.My position entailed managing the day to day operations to see that my store achieved its financial and strategic objectives. My responsibilities included but were not limited to the following:-Maintain a safe and secure store that fulfils all its legal obligations, has the highest presentation and merchandising standards.-Provide outstanding service through enforcing the highest level of quality in products and customer service, handling and resolving customer complaints in a professional and efficient manner. -Provide quality training and develop employees. This includes monitoring and appraising employees performance through coaching, counselling and disciplining employees, developing and coordinating training plans and enforcing Aldi's policies, procedures and productivity standards. This helps employees to achieve KPI's and assists job retention through job satisfaction, as a result reducing labour costs.-Utilise fair and efficient rostering methods -Manage inventory, completing partial and full stock takes, utilising data in order to keep stock levels at an acceptable presentation amount but whilst minimising loss.- Complete sales projections through analysis of previous sales data and current trends.

In the position of Assistant Store Manager at McDonalds my job involved running the day to day operations , this included managing the systems involved with training, health & safety, ordering inventory and rostering. During my time with McDonalds I also completed two management training courses/programs which helped advance me along the ranks. I began my career in 2003 whilst in high school as a shift assistant advancing through roles of crew trainer and crew chief finally beginning my management career in 2006 when I graduated high school and was promoted to shift supervisor. In the following years I worked my way up the ranks progressing through the roles of second assistant manager and first assistant manager (assistant store manager) working across various locations including Castle Hill, Westmead, Carlingford and Rosehill. By working across various locations it gave me the opportunity to experience working across different demographics as well as different size stores varying from managing 60-120 store employees.Whilst being an Assistant Store Manager I was directly responsible for managing sales projections, Profit and Loss items such as Labor, waste, maintenance & repair, and utilities. My other responsibilities included meeting budgets, hiring, retaining and promoting of staff members and managing Key Performance Indicators.

As a salesman at TFO I was tasked with front of line sales operations. It was my responsibility to utilise different sales approaches/ techniques to convince customers to purchase our tiles over competitors i.e other shops selling tiles, carpet, floorboards etc. Customers ranged from people purchasing for their homes to large scale businesses purchasing mass quantities for building developments. As well as convincing customers to buy from our company it was also my duty to attempt upsells such as persuading customers to upgrade from porcelain tiles to marble (more costly). I excelled at building customer and business relationships and as a result the directors of the company added marketing operations as one of my duties to compliment my business degree. With this added responsibility I was tasked with creating and implementing in store and social media marketing campaigns.During this time I was still a fulltime manager at McDonalds and studying business at Western Sydney University. After a couple of years I had to accept the limitations of my time to continue to exceed expectations in my occupations, as I have never been content with merely meeting standards. It is due to this reason that I chose to resign from Tile Factory Outlet and focus on management at McDonalds and my business degree. I look fondly back on my time at TFO however as it provided me with new skills and experience in sales and marketing.
