Subsystems design engineer responsible for creating drawings and CAD models for new or modified aircraft installations (e.g. environmental control systems, propulsion, bleed air, air data systems, fuel systems, hydraulics, avionics, RF and EO sensors, & flight test instrumentation). A significant portion of my role involves supporting customer and DARPA funded projects to integrate new payloads and technologies onto air vehicles. These projects typically involve my participation (and sometimes leadership) in architecture definition, trade studies, identification of suitable components, design, and flight testing.I also serve as the fuel systems SME for a major program at ADP. Responsibilities include the design and analysis of air vehicle fuel systems, troubleshooting fuel related anomalies in fielded aircraft, MRB support for new vehicles undergoing assembly/modifications, maintaining fuel system procedures & schematics, and supervising fuel system checkouts (SCOs).Primary design tool is CATIA V5.

Conceptual and detailed mechanical design of rugged, high-reliability RF electronic systems used on missiles and aircraft (e.g. datalinks, receivers, frequency sources). These systems typically had challenging size, weight, and power design constraints, long life requirements, and very austere temperature, vibration, and shock requirements.Design inputs typically included customer supplied envelope CAD models, formal or informal interface control documents (ICD), and an expected environment & loads document. Design outputs included CAD models and ASME Y14.5 compliant drawings of hermetic enclosures, printed circuit boards and assemblies, flex circuits, coldplates, heat sinks (convection air & phase change material), cable harnesses, custom EMI gaskets and covers, hybrid "chip and wire" assemblies, hoses & tubing, and specialty tooling and transportation assemblies (e.g. vibration test fixtures, custom shipping plates & boxes). Supported the development of about 12 different systems, often serving as the sole mechanical engineer on a project and generated 300+ drawings over the course of 4.5 years.My design responsibilities also included providing support to proposals for new development work, modifications to company owned test-bed aircraft for flight testing of products, and design of cooling apparatus both in the lab and in aircraft for testing (PAO chillers, hoses, fittings, valves, quick disconnects, etc.)In addition to my design work, I also performed first-pass structural, thermal, & pressure drop analysis and facilitated more detailed analyses (e.g. random vibration, coupled thermal flow) by subject matter experts.Primary design and analysis tools were PTC Creo and ANSYS.
