Worked as Project Support Engineer in CCGT Power Station in Co. Wexford. I was sourced to work in this position due to my experience there previously, where I was Document Controller and also part of the Commissioning Team. My work background, academic achievements along with the knowledge and familiarity of the station contributed greatly too.My main duties as Project Support Engineer included:• Support Project Manager with ongoing projects as necessary, assist with closing out of legacy paperwork from Capital Projects & other MPPC’s. Upload relevant drawings to the drawings database.• Attend walkdowns checking / snagging items on completion of projects. Verify issues are being completed from punchlist to a satisfactory standard.• Guide contractors around site in a safe secure manner, whilst strictly adhering to all site safety procedures as necessary.• Liaise with contractors while carrying out small scale projects on site, carry out coordination & verify measurements to ensure suitability of design from drawings.• Carried out walkdowns and verified / amended the Fire Escape Key Plan Drawings. Recorded location of all break glass units and fire extinguishers site wide, and marked up drawings. • Upholding the SSE 5 golden rules, while carrying out my daily duties.

Worked as a Mechanical Project Engineer with CTS in their Mechanical and Electrical Design Office. During my short time there assisted and contributed during early stages of several projects.Particularly focusing on the HVAC aspect and getting associated estimations.My main duties as Mechanical Project Engineer included:• Taking off of plant equipment from design drawings, locating suitable plant equipment from list of reputable suppliers and getting prices. Choosing best suitable plant equipment of three suitable products based on performance and price.• Ensure sourced / selected plant items correspond with the project brief and match design specification, verifying suitability with the clients design engineer where applicable.• Determined the required heat load / boiler requirement for the supply of adequate DHW and required storage capacity. Also determined the required CW storage to comply with current building regulations for a small scale project.

Worked as Document controller in the newly commissioned CCGT Power Station in Co. Wexford, which is owned by Scottish & Southern Energy. I was sourced to work in this position due to my extensive knowledge and involvement in the commissioning of the Power Station.My main duties as Document Controller included:• Organise and produce a fully functional database of all documentation relating to the operation and maintenance of the Power Station and its process.• Provide support to the Engineering and Maintenance teams.

My main duties as Assistant Commissioning Engineer in the site office included:Maintain an adequate register, control and identification of Turn Over Packages (TOPs), including related method statements and procedures in the Master Archive. Prepare Extra Work Orders (EWO) and track progress of Commissioning Incident Reports. Distribute the required documentation necessary for the commissioning department in the shortest period of time to ensure the successful handover of each relevant system to the client. Communicating with subcontractors and other members of the team to ensure correct identification and creation of documentation.Maintain a record of the commissioning scaffolding on site, ensuring that the costs of scaffolding is accurate and correct by consulting with the engineers who requested the scaffolding. Taking samples of the condensate in the HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generator) Economisers, followed by measuring and monitoring the pH levels of the condensate. Carried out walk downs with the client when transferring packages and often required as watchman to ensure the safety of workers in a confined space during walk downs. Followed the appropriate precautions to be taken while carrying out walk downs in an ATEX (Explosive Environment) area and confined spaces. The duties allocated to me, successfully ensure that the commissioning department operates in an efficient manner, while maintaining excellent correspondence with all personnel on site.

Carried out lighting design using AutoCAD drawings which were then imported into either DIALux or Relux lighting design software. As requested by the managing director, I would then load the characteristic file of the light fitting into the lighting design software and carry out multiple simulations. When choosing a lighting design I ensured that the minimum lighting level was achieved in accordance with the TGD and CIBSE Guides. After comparing the numerous simulations of several fittings, in different quantities at altered mounting heights; I would then select the most efficient arrangement. Where I would then generate a series of lighting design reports to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed arrangement.

Worked mainly as part of the dining room staff; work involved serving food to students, teachers and staff members. Also worked as dishwasher for the kitchen and assisted with the food preparation. I also helped the maintenance staff/caretakers to repair walls, paint rooms and assemble and move furniture. Appointed team leader on many occasions to organize and supervise fellow employees while working late at night and also had the added responsibility of making sure that all the doors were locked and secure.All these work responsibilities were allocated to me because I am trustworthy, reliable, orderly and work well on a team; it is factors like these that helped Coláiste Na Rinne achieve the Q Mark Award in 2009.

During my work placement, I assisted the Energy Manager Jim Doyle with the daily tasks in the factory; ensuring accurate records were maintained and energy monitoring data collected regularly. I liaised with and provided technical support to mechanical and electrical contractors on a new refurbishment project regarding a sustainable energy alternative. My position required attending meetings daily, informing leaders of the energy consumption of the previous day and filling out energy metrics and conformance reports. I carried out many other tasks such as filling out energy reports and monitoring the energy consumption. I also assisted the maintenance staff and generated SOS System Operating Sheets. Skills gained: Worked closely as part of an important team. Dealt with contractors in person and over the phone, time keeping, furthered my computing experience, received manual handling training, sorting of energy data and preparing spreadsheets.

In this part time job, I often carried out light body repairs on cars, vans etc. I have experience in working with certain filers, paints and lacquers which were used for carrying out the repairs. My main work activity was sanding down filler and primer along with preparing both new and repaired for paint. In order to repair such panels, they had to be removed carefully and the fittings kept in a safe place in order to refit the repaired panel later. Often after a job was complete the vehicle had to be washed and polished before it could be returned to the customer. Team work was very important to ensure no scratches occurred to the finished panels, were the panels were fitted by two people. It was not uncommon to start work on a vehicle and after completing various stage of repair before handing it over to someone else to finish the job.
