About Liam Williams

Ten years working in Financial Services, working for the biggest pension providers in the UK. Roles such as account management, managing teams of 30+ colleagues, building new departments and most recently contracting for Legal & General helping build new pension products. During this time I’ve gained experience in the technical areas of pensions, the Agile project methodology, the operational side of running departments and leadership.Over the last 5 years I’ve pivoted to the creative sector and am Founder & Director of Leodo Ltd, a visual communications company. The pivot has been based around the concept of sketchnoting, something that captured my attention when attending the Do Lectures in 2016. Sketchnotes are visual maps where you express concepts, ideas and expression with images, type and text. Having began taking sketchnotes in meetings & at events I’ve now grown my services to include Workshops where I teach the sketchnoting skill to businesses, schools and universities. In addition I graphic record (or live scribe) where I visually capture the content at events, keynotes, webinars or meetings. I provide social content to help communicate and engage in a more visual way and provide other services such as graphic facilitation of meetings and ideation sessions along with presentation design. At the end of 2020 I also entered the world of internal communications, becoming a consultant from Cromwell Tools, an industrial tool supplier in the UK. A varied role helping engage colleagues with Internal Newsletters, SharePoint Sites, Email Communications, Rich Pictures, Presentation Design and a whole host of illustrations and graphics. The experience gained and the ability to apply my skills to different sectors has enabled me to build and expand my career toolbox. What has surprised me the most is how you can apply skills and ideas from completely different sectors to make positive change add continuous value. It’s all about adding value!I don’t tend to settle for comfort. Someone once told me, if it doesn't scare you, don't do it. I now live by that motto! Collaboration is key. I am always on the look out to explore new ideas and learn new things. I’m always available for a coffee in person or virtually!**Specialities**Leadership; Social Media; Account Management; Relationship Management; Pensions; Finance; Sketchnoting; Illustrations; Keynote Speaking; Workshop Facilitation; Agile Working; Graphic Recording; Graphic Facilitation; Internal Communications; SharePoint; Operationsliam@leodo.co.uk@leodo_uk [twitter & instagram]

Listed skills include Sipp, Pensions, Pension Administration, Financial Services, and 46 others.

Jul 2013 - Jul 2016

Sipp Administrator

Joined Ascentric to explore working for a Wrap Platform, working in the SIPP department administering new SIPP business. The SIPP product was still quite new to the market when I joined so developing the systems and overall administration of the SIPP department was high priority. I provided many ideas on improving the systems in place. The company experienced high volumes of new business so it was important for me to work with other members in the department to help manage workload and make sure temporary staff were trained to a high standard. Alongside this, I experienced high levels of general scheme correspondence via telephone, email and postal.I was also exposed to transfers out and helped streamline a new process to better handle these requests. I identified a lack of team knowledge of Pensions Liberation stopped potential cases going through the system.

Sanlam were still a relatively new firm who had bought Merchant Investors. I was brought in to work on the full SIPP product they provided. Due to my background in pensions I was placed in charge of the Syndicated Property Purchase proposal. I was exposed to high level management meetings in order to provide my figures each month. This role included a high volume of general scheme correspondence and I would assist the Pensions Technical team on difficult time consuming cases.
