Lead four groups of 20+ first-year computer science students in the algorithms & data structures module. Responsibilities included leading weekly 2-hour problems classes for each group, marking student work and helping students with python programming. Taking on this role greatly developed my skills in teaching and finding suitable ways of communicating ideas to all kinds of learners, improved my confidence and public speaking skills when introducing and explaining new concepts to large groups of students and developed my teamwork and organisational skills when teaching alongside coworkers or planning and covering the weeks classes, especially during the pandemic when different students and tutors had to be moved between classes due to various isolations.

I worked behind the bar handling customer orders and payments, preparing drinks and ensuring the bar and restaurant area remained clean and welcoming. The role developed my teamwork skills as I worked with coworkers to complete various bar tasks such as changing casks and cleaning and shutting the bar at the end of the night, alongside improving my communication skills when interacting with and serving customers.

Worked on front of shop handling customer orders and payments as well as working on food preparation, ensuring food was properly wrapped and packaged and that the workspace maintained a clean and hygienic condition. This developed both teamwork and communication skills as I worked with 3 other coworkers to ensure the shop kept running.

I supported teachers in post-GCSE maths summer classes, where I taught students in small groups and ensured student safety and wellbeing throughout the 4 weeks. This allowed me to give prospective students an insight into A-level mathematics and beyond, developed my teaching and communication skills and was an experience I found to be very rewarding.
