Co-founded a diagnostic company focused on decreasing the time to diagnosis for Lyme disease patients to allow patients to be properly treated before symptoms can become long-term. Aiming to improve current diagnostics methods invented over 25 years ago using modern discoveries and methods.During my time building the company with my cofounders, we conducted extensive market research and competition analysis for competing solutions. We spoke to different doctors and researchers working in the space and patients who were deeply affected by Lyme disease. We also won multiple non-dilutive grants from pitch competitions and grant application such as the Quantum Valley Investments Problem Pitch and became finalist at the Concept 5k and the Youth Impact Challenge.After 1.5 years of research and designing our potential solution we decided this wasn't the right business for us and closed shop near the end of covid to focus on other opportunities that better aligned with our long term interests.

Designed and built an automated sampling system using an Arduino controllable through a Bluetoothmodule in order to easily change experimental parameters within a closed UVA reactor. Designed experimental procedures and managed experimental setups to safely handleextremely toxic gas in a semi-closed system. Researched and developed different methods to efficiently scrub toxic gas from the air using inorganic solvents and activated carbon.

Worked without supervision to pioneer a metal-oxo-polymer binder that is used to coat microparticles and 'glue' photocatalysts to said particles. Performed multiple analytical experiments to determine the quality of H2nanO's proprietary photocatalytic technology for treating organics contaminants in water systems.Aided in the optimization process of multiple lab scale processes to prep for the scale up production of the catalysts product.

The Institute of Oil Sands is currently conducting research on perfecting Non-Aqueous Extraction (NAE) of bitumen from the northern Alberta oilsands. While having a split-focus on creating a process to clean and process the environmentally destructive Oil Tailing ponds that is a waste product of the current industrial process.As a Research Assistant, I worked independently on facilitating the process of extracting bitumen from mined oil sand using NAE to create the main sample for multiple new projects. In the process, I was trained in multiple characterization equipment such as Simulated Distillation and Coulometric Titration. While also becoming familiar with processing equipment such as Roller Mill, Muffler Furnace, Centrifuges and the proper usage of a fume hood.
