Head Of Computing, Engineering And Digital TechnologiesNorthern Beaches Christian School Jan 2012 - Present1 Echunga Road, Terrey Hills, Nsw 2084, AustraliaAs a Head of Department, I work on the Learning team to push for continuous improvement in academic learning at NBCS. In recent years we have overseen significant growth in HSC results achieved by students at the high-achiever and lower-achiever levels. My Stage 6 IPT and SDD HSC classes consistently perform well above the state average. Most years, the lowest performing students achieve grades above the state average. Higher performing students regularly achieve high Band 6s with regular state rankings. Changes to the syllabus have required intensive course design for the new Stage 6 Enterprise Computing and Software Engineering courses as well as Computing Technology for Stage 5.Cocurricular (and some curricular) Robotics continues to provide NSW State success at RoboCup Junior NSW, with state champion students most years in various competitions including RoboCup soccer, Rescue Maze and Rescue line challenges. NBCS students have been awarded at National level with awards for innovation in engineering, problem solving and for Robogals.Digital Technology projects have ranged from onboarding courses to supporting HoDs and staff with their integration of technology.NBCS supports my role as Senior HSC marker for NESA. I also work for NESA in their standards setting team as a Judge marker. These roles have enabled me to push my students to reach excellence in their grades. -

Technology Learning LeaderNbcs Jan 2012 - Jan 20181 Echunga Road, Terrey Hills, Nsw 2084My role at NBCS has evolved since starting taking on the role as Head of TAS in 2012. Initially, I designed the learning for newly developed Learning Spaces that facilitated team-teaching in large learning spaces. Our courses mainly use Project-Based learning with some flipped learning to maximise the amount of experimental learning for students. Some staff changes lead to 3 faculties becoming 2. I now lead the ICT and Digital Technologies, Engineering Studies and Food Technology as well as Stage 4 Technology. I was involved in a review of our LMS which resulted in recommended that school switch to Canvas, which has been implemented for the 2020 school year.My teaching is focused on Digital Technologies. At Stage 6, I teach IPT and SDD and have consistently had students achieve some of the best HSC results at NBCS. I have been a HSC marker of IPT since 2007.I redesigned the IST course in Stage 5 to become a student-driven pathway through the course. The result of this has been that students reach higher standards than previously achieved as the board developed course. Stage 5 students have won the State Competitions of RoboCup Soccer and Maze in almost every year that I have been at NBCS. They have been recognised with RoboGals and Dean of Engineering Awards at the National competition. They have gone on to represent Australia at the World Robot Olympiad in Jakarta, Indonesia (2013), Doha, Qatar (2015) and New Delhi, India (2016). During the recent pandemic. every Stage 4 student learned Web Fundamentals (HTML/CSS and JavaScript) through Grok Learning's learning platform to prepare for their Web.Comp. NBCS students feature on the leaderboard of all levels of the competition that has over 201,000 students enrolled globally.
