Towards the end of the decade Rio Tinto Australia's Gove Operations will cease and large land areas and significant assets such as the Gove Port and Airport will return to the control of Gumatj Traditional Owners. This role plays a leading role in negotiating transition arrangements with Rio Tinto Australia, The Northern Territory Government and the Commonwealth Government under the direction of Gumatj leaders as well as leading long-term macroeconomic planning, industry attraction and proponent negotiations to ensure a sustainable and self-determined future.Key accountabilities of the role include: * Growth and diversification of existing commercial and community services operations;* Attraction of new industry sectors and negotiation of associated proponent partnerships;* The strengthening and oversight of corporate systems (HR, IT, WHS, Finance);* Increasing the yield of commercial investment strategies and;* Providing strategic oversight to social investments made by the corporation.

The Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation (ALPA) is Australia's largest Indigenous corporation, owned by it's member communities in East Arnhem Land and governed by a Yolngu Board of Directors.As General Manager of Community Services I led and managed the Community Services division of ALPA with operations encompassing the Community Development Program (CDP), Remote School Attendance Strategy (RSAS), National Disability Scheme (NDIS), Youth Services, ALPA's Registered Training Organisation as well as a variety of other health and education programs.The focus of the role was to improve Yolngu quality of life, as per ALPA's strategic plan, this was accomplished through community led program design, innovation in service delivery, social advocacy and identifying further diversification opportunities which support our mission of empowering communities and promoting social change through community & economic development.
