During my internship at Wallcon, I had the opportunity to gain comprehensive experience across three distinct departments, each providing valuable insights into the operations of a large construction company.Operations Department (Mesa Office):I began my internship in the Mesa office, where I played a key role in integrating a newly designed centralized scheduling system within the plumbing department. Working closely with Pete Keith, the Head of Operations, I gained invaluable experience in understanding the operational intricacies of a large construction firm.Accounting Department (Harvard Office):In the second phase of my internship, I transitioned to the Harvard office to work in the accounting department, focusing on the plumbing, concrete, and framing sectors. During this period, I acquired in-depth knowledge of Wallcon's accounting software and systems, enhancing my financial acumen and understanding of sector-specific accounting practices.Estimations Department (Mesa Office):In the final phase, I joined the estimations department, where I actively monitored community bids and adjusted estimates to align with fluctuating costs, ensuring profitable margins. This experience significantly improved my Excel skills, as I worked extensively with data to produce accurate and competitive estimates. This multifaceted internship not only broadened my skill set but also provided me with an in depth understanding of the different facets of construction management and operations.
