In high school I started a firewood business, splitting and selling firewood during summers and school breaks. I hired friends as employees and marketed through word of mouth and online platforms (Nextdoor & Craigslist). Through running this business I learned the importance of being a self-starter along with many lessons about employment, sales and analytics. I created systems that helped grow an hourly pay of $7.50 in my first month of business to a consistent $50/hr. I also scaled the company to the point where I had more customers than firewood to sell and time to split.
