Over the summer of 2024 I had the privilege to work as an operations support intern for Cardinal Health’s Sacramento Pharmaceutical Distribution Center where I ran 7 different projects with one being a continuous improvement project. I accepted the offer from Cardinal Health to continue my internship remotely throughout the school year where I’ll be working on my continuous improvement project and shifting my responsibilities to fit an analyst position. During my time on site my projects had interactions with every aspect of the company such as Lean Six Sigma Blackbelts, our controlled substances legal team, our environmental health and safety team, inbound, outbound, inventory, customers, manufacturers, and many other business aspects. 6 of my 7 projects I started independently including my continuous improvement project. During my down time between project meetings and events, I would work in the warehouse where I got real hands on experience with the team members where I learned from their many years of experience, especially since the average day shift team member has been with Cardinal Health for 18 years! I am thankful for Cardinal Health sponsoring my white and yellow belt training which I used extensively with my projects. Using the A3 project template and DMAIC process helped me organize my projects for success.This internship helped me to develop my core strengths and gave me valuable tools to mitigate my weaknesses. I am very thankful for the mentorship I received during this time by every manager in the facility and a corporate mentor that Cardinal Health assigned to me for my internship. Their help and guidance propelled me to success as I expanded the tools and perspectives I have available which I will take with me for the rest of my career.
