The duties of this position included:• Shelf-check of items against the Library's database.• Data entry, e.g. adding barcodes to records in the Library's database. • Carrying out preservation cleaning on selected collections.• Measuring items for individual boxes.• Applying cotton tying-tape.• Applying RFID tags and barcodes to boxes and items.• Stock moves and setting up workstations.• Packing and boxing material.• Maintenance of records and statistical data.

I played a vital role in supporting and enhancing library services for the local community of Arklow. The primary objective of my position was to gain practical experience and develop the necessary skills to pursue a career in public librarianship or related fields. I assisted library patrons, promoted library programs, shelved and organised materials, and took part in many other tasks. By working alongside experienced librarians, I gained valuable hands-on experience, fostered a deeper understanding of public library operations, and gained the opportunity to positively impact the community by facilitating access to information, promoting literacy, and supporting lifelong learning.
