For as long as I can remember I've been fascinated by our material culture and the stories behind its creation. I have a human-centred approach to my design work, which fosters an uncompromising philosophy about our world and the objects we create. I believe we have the ability to craft meaningful, innovative products that can improve our lives systemically through an interconnected approach. Through my design education, I was able to gain a breadth of knowledge in the many aspects of the design process, including research and synthesis methods, design thinking and problem solving tools. The curiosity of what's possible constantly pushes me to be an innovative, forward thinker through an iterative process. I focused my studies on soft-goods, and gained a minor in Material Art and Design. This made me proficient in textile properties, colour theory, graphic design, and garment construction. An area of textiles that I truly thrive in is natural dyes. These skills and tools I've learned from OCAD all work together in tandem to push my practice to where it is today.My design practice is heavily focused on creating meaningful solutions to the climate crisis through the lens of fashion and textiles. This practice has given me a depth of experience in colour harmony, materiality, holistic sustainability and ethical practices all without compromising innovation, design or aesthetics. Authenticity and transparency are important to creating a meaningful product that will resonate with an audience. My whole practice works tirelessly towards creating a better, healthier future for us all through not just the design of high quality clothing, but by hopefully changing the social normalcy around destructive practices towards a more sustainable future.
