Liam Marsh MEng (Hons), PhD, CEng, MIET, MIEEE, FHEALiam gained a first class MEng degree (with honours) in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from UMIST in 2007. He studied for his PhD ‘Electromagnetic Tomography and People Screening’ at the University of Manchester. In 2011 he took up the post of Research Associate at the University of Manchester, and spent several years working on a range of successful research projects. Liam was awarded Chartered Engineer (CEng) status in 2014. In 2018 Liam was appointed as a Lecturer in Embedded Systems in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester.Liam’s research includes metal characterisation, magnetic induction spectroscopy/tomography, signal processing, security, and the development of sensing systems for a diverse range of applications, including former conflict zones and polar regions. He has delivered invited talks on future security screening technologies, the use of technology to find landmines, and the design and deployment of sensor systems for hostile environments.
