As an intern, I primarily engaged in drafting work in the civil and land development sectors, supporting projects of various scales across South East Queensland. In this role, I gained valuable experience in the development application process, assessing development projects, and interpreting local council requirements. I also assisted with technical writing for clients and the preparation of engineering reports.

Part of a small Technical Services team at a narrow-vein underground gold operation. Day-to-day responsibilities included generating long-hole drill designs and charge plans. Communicating with operators to enforce quality control and assurance to drill and blast standards. Ensuring drilling and stoping operations are in line with weekly and monthly schedules. Adhering to geotechnical standards and guidelines. Generating stope notes for each level to be mined. Stope reconciliations every month to ensure the maximised exploitation of the mineral resource. Monitoring of drilling and charging, and evaluation of blast and bogging results. Reviewing and refining drill and charge plans to conform with geotechnical and geological requirements. Primary and secondary ventilation surveys, memos, and reports in line with Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995. Working closely with Technical Services team including Planning Engineer/Underground Manager, Geology, and Mining Foreman/Project Manager.

Open Pit Iron Ore - working across 5 mid-sized pits.Assisted the Engineering Department with various tasks including: drill designs, blast patterns, general clean-up requests, and data entry. As part of the Geology team, I was responsible for the general grade control from pit to plant. This was achieved by blast hole sampling, ROM stockpile & pit inspections (before being transported via Road Trains to the crusher ROM ~100km from pit ROMs). Other methods included ore spotting, monitoring daily plant and blast hole sample results.
