Working StudentAmazon Web Services (Aws) Apr 2022 - Sep 2023Berlin, DeutschlandI developed, launched and operated a production web service, deployed across EMEA. The highly sensitive data we handled required an external security review, including an penetration test. My documentation, analysis and hardening on the system results in no high severity findings and fast sign-off. I developed a heavy-state reliant SPA React frontend, using Redux and Amazons Console UI library. I developed a Python FastAPI backend and redesigned large parts of the data pipeline on AWS.The rewrite of a multi-step data pipeline cut costs by -72% ($1200 vs $340/month), while doubling the data refresh rate and cutting runtime from over 9 to below 2 hours (-79%). Included writing highly concurrent (50 threads/core, 8+ cores) data processing code.I also co-designed an interface and automation that boils dataset creation down from 2 days to max 4 hours (min. -75%). Pitch: Spend 3 hours on making business decisions how a dataset is defined & iteratively write a single SQL query, then fill in the name and description - done. All while improving insights, monitoring and periodic automatic execution. -
