I attended spring training with the Independent Professional team in Roswell but did not make the team outright. I was invited to join the team as part of the player development program; I would not be paid but would have a chance to make the roster each game. I pitched very well in my first outing, striking out seven batters in a row. Eventually I made the starting rotation, went on to a record of 5-1 ( including one win in the playoffs) and finished second on the team in innings pitched.
