At age 27, Libby cofounded Mother, London, and named the company after the one word most associated with “creation” in every language on earth. She was both head of art and architect of Mother’s breakthrough positioning, which leaned toward the principles of the MOMA rather than Madison Avenue. The company rose from market obscurity to Campaign’s Agency of the Year in just 36 months and continues to be one of the industry’s indie darlings. She has a completely unique view relating to the line between advertising and culture, leading to an approach transcending conventional marketing practice.In 2011, she cofounded Odysseus Arms—named after the guy who invented the Trojan horse—an agency reflecting quantum changes within the industry. Blueprinted after the film-production model, the agency has a staff of ten and an elastic, voluminous network of specialists who orbit the core team on Pine Street. O-Arms produced YouTube’s first national ad campaign, acting as ad agency within Co: collective, and was recently named Ad Age’s 2014 Small Agency of the Year (Gold, 1–10 Employees).
