While I adore babies and children of all ages, three years ago I decided to become a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS). As a professional Nanny, I had already cared for many babies -- from newborns just arriving home from the hospital to older infants and toddlers. In November, 2018, I completed the NCS Foundational Training and became a Level 1 Newborn Care Specialist. Then in March, 2019 I completed the Advanced Newborn Care Training to become a Level 2 Advanced Newborn Care Specialist. Since becoming an NCS and Advanced NCS, over two dozen families have benefited from hiring me to care for their newborns in the first nights and weeks after they bring their babies home. Parents are grateful to get the rest they need, knowing that I am watching over and caring for their precious babies at night. But being a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) is so much more than caring for each baby’s basic needs; I am dedicated to working with each baby to ensure they reach their developmental milestones, as I did in my previous work as a professional Nanny. What does this mean? Parents rely on me to educate them on sleep and feeding schedules and to help them establish routines that will help their baby have a happy, healthy start in life. Even second-time or third-time parents need a refresher on how to schedule feeding, sleeping, changing, bathing, and playing around a growing infant’s rapidly changing needs. My NCS training and my years of experience have already given me a wide base of knowledge in these areas, I am continually educating myself in all things pertaining to baby care.I look forward to meeting more new families and helping make the first nights, weeks, and months with their new bundle of joy easier and less stressful.
