Highly-detailed, certified educator with a passion for community organizing and educational equity. Adaptable and data-driven with a background in project management and systems development. Seeks to bring 9+ years of educator energy to an organization grounded in expanding access to nature and research-based teaching strategies.Community Organizing and Leadership:As a community organizer and a Local School Council (LSC) representative in Chicago, I was able to bring people together to form advocacy groups, organize events and ongoing programs, and partner with schools and community leaders in order to support and advocate for the needs of students and families. I was also a co-founder and co-chair of the LSC Equity Committee, where I was responsible for developing goals, creating agendas, leading meetings, performing outreach to new and existing members, and using data to inform our equity research. Through my Peace Corps experience, I found the importance of working with a community unlike my own to develop projects that fit their needs. I have learned how to collaborate, multi-task, collect and use data to inform my planning, assess outcomes, and work in a fast-paced environment while modeling calm and respectful interaction.Teaching, Organization, and Innovation:As a teacher, I have managed significant caseloads and have worked closely with students and teachers to help create sustainable systems to track goals. While working as an Auditory Impairment Itinerant Teacher, I traveled to schools and homes, working one-on-one with students and their families. As a self-motivated employee, I quickly recognized the need to maximize my time working with students and so I developed several new systems to help myself and other itinerant teachers track mileage, digitally manage tasks, and keep accurate records of IEP progress. All of my experiences have helped hone my organizational and communication competencies, as well as my ability to adapt to unique situations and face new challenges.
