I’ve worked for Channel 7 and the ABC. I’ve worked in remote Aboriginal communities in governance, community development, health and logistics, and with Aboriginal councils supporting them to create stronger communities. Reading those experiences, you’d be right in thinking that strategy, problem solving, people management and empowerment are what make me buzz. It will be no surprise that I’ve taken those passions and combined them with an accidental talent for teaching.A few years ago, I lived in Nepal’s Himalayas with 90 monks. I don’t speak Nepali, I’m not Buddhist and I’m not a qualified teacher, but I discovered a natural ability to teach. With a bundle of chopsticks, a stack of music and the joy of seeing my students’ English improve, I kept the monks laughing and learning. I also lived with 70 teenagers in Alice Springs for 5 years – motherhood on steroids! Working with unabated hormones taught me about managing different personalities and challenging situations. Then there’s my coaching journey which began in 2003. I was so in awe of the positive change it delivered across my entire life, rescuing it from an all-time low, that I decided to train as a coach with one of the country’s best coaches, and also my first coach: internationally renowned speaker, bestselling author, coach to millionaires, elite athletes and me – Paul Blackburn. That’s my official bio, but when we meet, ask me to tell you about selling roses in pubs while I was at uni.
