During 2017 I starting to look for university degrees and found ‘youth work’ this highlighted a passion for me and a great and exciting Carer path. During my time in university I completed 1,000 hours of voluntary work in a range of settings including an open access youth provision, all aspects of the youth offending service and I also spent a time in a homeless charity with with under 18s.After completing my degree in 2020 I planned a move to Reading, during this time I actively looked at jobs in a range of youth settings, I then started a role as ‘missing children’s key worker’ in brighter futures for children.Along the same time I began to work in 2 specialist youth clubs.In 2022 I began to look to increase my knowledge and work experience,this lead me to my previous role as an ‘outreach community youth worker’ I have recently been promoted to senior youth worker covering the Detached team. In this new and exciting role myself and the team plan to supporting community to set up open access youth provisions, community engagement activities, transition groups for young people from primary to secondary school and working with young people in there communities to support them for positive outcomes/ community relationships.
