The Debt Education for Business Transformation and Sustainability (DEBTS) Program initiative at Delta State University was an intensive program that used a combination of technology (iPads and webinars) and face to face visits to provide credit and debt management training and repair services to current and potential micro-entrepreneurs. The program focused on entrepreneurs located in Bolivar, Washington, Sunflower, and Coahoma counties. The DEBTS program was a three year program where 12 micro-entrepreneurs were recruited each year and had participants from each county. Each participant attended eight training workshops and had a minimum of two consultations per month.As a Business Consultant, I helped entrepreneurs gain valuable training and technical assistance that aided in increasing their profit margins and, in many cases, remain sustainable business entities.

As an Office Manager and Associate Financial Representative, I was the face of the organization. I was involved in a chain of events that were aimed not just to find and acquire new clients, but also to maintain proper workflow through coordination with the seniors, subordinates and any external agencies that were concerned with the organizations business and business development.I researched for prospective clients and then maintained a database to schedule meetings with these clients. When it came to the existing clients of the organization, I took every measure to ensure that they were provided with the best customer service to help maintain a cordial and long lasting professional relationship. While meeting the clients, I was expected to present accurate information and understand the requirements of each client. Clients included high net worth individuals (HNI's), privately or publicly held organizations, etc. Apart from these tasks, I managed the paperwork related to the delivery and servicing of all financial services offered.It was expected that I was knowledgeable with the most recent advancements in the capital market. I was able to gather, interpret and present statistics and other information to the clients or the departmental staff. Since this was a target based job, I was expected to be an excellent negotiator who could persuade clients to opt for the organizations products and services. I was able to lead junior representatives in the absence of the financial manager and achieved the organizational goals with utmost efficiency while ensuring client satisfaction.
