Libby Christie was appointed Executive Director of The Australian Ballet in July 2013 and finished her 91/2 year term leading Australia’s renowned national ballet company at the end of 2022. She has extensive experience in senior executive and enterprise leadership roles in the arts/entertainment and ICT sectors, not for profit and for profit sectors. Prior to taking up her position at The Australian Ballet she was Acting CEO (2013) and Executive Director of Arts Funding (2009-2012) at the Australia Council for the Arts, the Australian Government's national arts funding body. From 2003 to 2009 she was Managing Director of the Sydney Symphony, resident at the Sydney Opera House. Before joining the arts sector, Libby held a number of senior executive roles in Information, Communications and Telecommunictions companies, notably Computer Power Group, Optus, Telstra and TMPWorldwide. She also has broad experience in the adult education/tertiary education sector.Libby is an experienced non executive director. She has been an Executive Councillor of Live Performance Australia (where she is an Honorary Life Member), Chair of the State Orchestra of Victoria and is currently a member of the Board of Northrop Consulting and Member of its Nominations Committee. Libby holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma of Adult Education from the University of Canberra.She is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chief Executive Women.
