About Libby Curran
I am a Special Education teacher in a poor school district in NH. For more than 20 years, I have been writing little books to help children learn to read, and inspire them to love reading. In 2012, I was honored to receive a People Magazine Teacher of the Year Award. This award inspired me to find a way to share my books and teaching methods with beginning readers all over the world. Thanks to the power of social networking and mobile technology, that dream has become a reality. I put together a team of teachers turned developers to create The Reading Train, the very first iPad app to teach early literacy by actually reading and interacting with "just right" books, rather than drilling isolated skills. I believe it is the only learn-to-read app to help our earliest readers meet Common Core standards of reading widely and deeply with increasingly complex texts.
