Freeslate was my first role after my PhD program. It was an outstanding experience that let me use my chemistry expertise in the software world that I wanted to enter. Freeslate’s customers were chemists like me, so I was able to not only execute established test procedures on the software, but find gaps in the tests and in the software itself based on my understanding of the end-users.I was promoted to a senior role within 3 years. I further expanded the dimensions of the role by creating new structured reporting on product deficiencies for the Product Management org, prioritizing defects regularly, and facilitating customer useability research.

This role continued after Freeslate, Inc. was spun out of Symyx, and I was promoted to a senior role shortly after that transition.

- Completed pump-probe data collection and theoretical analysis for three kinetic studies- Synthesized 20+ benzyl and diphenylmethyl compounds- Calculated vibrational reorganization energies using Spartan- Wrote MATLAB program to fit kinetic data- Designed kinetic experiments to study salt effects on ion pair separation and recombination- Built and programmed a flash photolysis experimental setup using LabVIEW- Used holography to study the formation and degradation of index structures in thiol-ene photopolymers
