The UPS Global Business Services Office in Columbus, Ohio is responsible for administering almost 8 billion dollars in payroll and benefits a year to around 200,000 domestic and international employees. In order to have consistency with the Dallas, Texas GBS office, UPS management has approved desk level procedures for each task performed by payroll processors. As the finance and accounting intern, I had the opportunity to review each finance and accounting procedure with the appropriate staff member and recommend changes to be implemented on a nationwide scale. -Analyzed and edited 250 finance and accounting desk level procedures for the Hourly, Management, Canada, and Health Welfare and Pension payroll groups at the Columbus GBS office. -Performed on the job interviews with GBS staff to learn more about their everyday tasks and processes. -Delivered an end-of-summer presentation to upper-level management to explain recommendations and changes made to desk level procedures after learning from GBS staff.-Implemented knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for practical use in the workplace.
