Hiawatha seeks to inspire greater systemic change for all Minneapolis scholars so that neither race nor zip code determines a child's educational future.I led the network's fund development work. For Hiawatha Academies, philanthropy is the driver of growth and expansion, ensuring that the network can grow to 5 schools by 2018 and become a proof point for what is possible at scale.

Hunger-Free Minnesota is the first-of-its-kind, $8M statewide campaign developed to transform the hunger relief system by leveraging innovation, local ingenuity, and strong partnerships to add 100 million meals annually to support food insecure Minnesotans.Led strategic planning, business development, marketing, outcomes measurement, and investment portfolio management for the Hunger-Free Minnesota child hunger platform. Managed donor relationships, fund development opportunities, external partnerships, and marketing strategy. Designed strategy around sustainability, replication, and impact acceleration.

Developed and implemented federal policy and advocacy strategies that promoted work and service opportunities among older adults and improved multidisciplinary, patient-centered healthcare.Key Accomplishments:• Conducted 6 public forums and synthesized the data and ideas to create 11 policy recommendations for improving Older Americans Act (OAA); recommendations used as advocacy platform for OAA reauthorization• Built consensus in the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations to include 15 of our clients’ policy priorities in Council’s OAA official advocacy agenda• Designed volunteer engagement model and budget for clients who used model to guide program’s growth• Interpreted and synthesized legislative and regulatory changes including those related to Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Older Americans Act, and federal budget appropriations

Managed the SNAP (formerly Food Stamp) Outreach Program to increase SNAP participation in Cook County. Built the Cook County Express Stamps Program, a USDA demonstration project aimed at increasing SNAP access among eligible households.Key Accomplishments:• Grew program over 300% in 2 years from 80 to over 250 families served per month• Managed 3 staff members, 2 interns, and over 10 volunteers; responsibility for training and performance supervision• Built partnerships with key stakeholders: SNAP state policy staff, local volunteers, and food pantry staff• Consulted with 60 low-income individuals and families monthly to provide SNAP application assistance• Developed web-based tracking system to measure program outcomes and manage staff efficiency
