I am the Duty Worker at CAMHS Gateway and trained as a band 6 Clinical Associate (Applied) Psychologist; a role currently in the process of being accredited. Prior to that, I have a BSc and well as another MSc in Forensic Psychology, of which is HCPC registered.I have continued my professional development and a can provide an up-to-date portfolio for this. I have pioneered the role as a CAP within Dorset and within both inpatient and community CAMHS. I developed practice within CAMHS Gateway through providing evidenced based clinical knowledge, enabling stronger formulations and reliable resources to be used for clinical interventions. When CAMHS Gateway became Pan-Dorset and I stepped into the Duty role, I chose to prioritise high-risk clients and create a traffic light system for level of risk. This decision was recognised by the wider team to be a successful move and improved relations between the Duty role and other teams within the wider service. I can independently provide specialist mental health assessments and formulations to complex cases. Considering the Trust Strategy 5 Year Plan, I can integrate key information to ensure I have a well-rounded approach that remains person-centred at the core and acknowledges their need for safety, privacy, and dignity. I have given extensive guidance to temporary agency clinicians around Trust processes and recordings using some of my own case recordings as exemplar.Within my role as a Band 6 practitioner, I screen referrals from a wide range of sources and use a multi-disciplinary approach ensuring that the client is supported. I facilitate the organisation of urgent assessments and co-ordinate shadowing opportunities for both staff members and professionals in other services. This ensures that our staff members can develop their skills and thus further develop the service. In Gateway, I volunteer as a resource for the wider team, ensuring that remote workers and those returning to work are supported. I provide consultation and informal peer supervision to ensure my colleagues feel supported professionally and given space to reflect.
