1993-1998 Engineering degree in Organic Chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague, Czech Republic. Studies with Prof Dalimil Dvorak focused on the synthesis and properties of novel aminocarbene complexes of Iron.Summer 1997-internship with Dr. Ivo Stary and Dr. Irena Stara, scaled-up synthesis of heterohelicene derivatives.1998-2003 PhD degree in Organic Chemistry, Columbia University, New York, USA. With Prof. Thomas J. Katz developed synthetic methods for preparation of novel [6] and [7]helicenes and studied their electro-physical properties.2003-2006 Postdoctoral researcher with Dr. Cherie Kagan at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY. Studies focused on terthiophene derivatives for applications in molecular electronics. The work included not only the synthesis of the new materials but also characterization of substrates with self-assembled monolayers.2006-2012 Research Staff Member, Advanced Lithography Dept., IBM Corp. Developing novel materials allowing extensions of optical lithography to future technology nodes (32 nm and beyond). Projects involved materials for Contrast Enhancement Layers and Graded Bottom Antireflective Coatings (G-BARC) and Wet-Developable Bottom Antireflective Coating (D-BARC).Specialties: Sythesis of small organic molecules as well as polymers, use of typical analytical methods such as FTIR, NMR, UV-vis, GC-MS, HPLC, TGA, DSC, characterization of thin films using AFM, ellipsometry, CV, surface FTIR, some knowledge of semiconductor fabrication methods.2012 - present - Project leader, Synthon, Czech Republic. Development of synthetic routes for generic APIs.
