About Cassandra Morris

I currently am a Member-At-Large on ALA's Graphic Novels & Comics Round Table (GNCRT) board. Previously I chaired the Discord Committee ('23-'24 term) and I started volunteering with GNCRT in September 2020 on the social media team. I assist with creating and scheduling social media content relevant to GNCRT's mission of supporting library staff in all aspects of engaging with graphic novels and comics, including collection development, programming, and advocacy. I was social media committee chair for the '22-'23 term.I was a collaborator on a Information Literacy Poster Project as part of an IMLS Grant Brooklyn Public Library received. Team members were brought on as consultants to develop an information literacy poster for public and school libraries, as well as the general public.I was at the Amherst Public Libraries as a Librarian I.Before then, I was the Digital Marketing and Engagement Specialist at Bridgeville Public Library and South Fayette Township Library. I started at BPL Aug 2016, when I was hired as a Part-time Community Services Clerk. In Jan 2017 I was became the full-time Circulation Supervisor. In Sep 2019 I switched over to digital marketing as part of my capstone project for my Master's program at Drexel University. I attended Drexel starting Fall of 2017 and completed my degree in March 2020.From Dec 2009 - July 2014 I've served in the United States Marine Corps as a Meteorology Oceanography Analyst Forecaster (6842). During that time I've worked with and led teams of forecasters to collect, validate and process atmospheric information as well as providing atmospheric assessments, oceanographic and space environmental information, products and services to Marine Corps aviation and ground organizations on the East Coast, as well as in the Pacific. I also collected, updated, organized and archived publications, both meteorological and Marine Corps related.Prior to my time in the military I worked at Mid Continent Public Library Blue Springs South Branch. I started as a page, and was promoted to Library Clerk where I processed circulation materials, aided library patrons, and assisted with library programs. - Familiar with clerical work, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products and online databases - Creating and updating products to disseminate information to large customer bases - Assisted in development of multiple ways to display information products in a manner customers would be most responsive to - Worked as part of a team to organize and disseminate products and information in a timely manner
