Libuse is an experienced education policy advocate, strategist, nonprofit leader, public speaker, published author, fundraiser, and community organizer. She has lent her passion and expertise to civic and community engagement, advocacy, policy, and campaigns - both for candidates and issues. She also has extensive experience with systems change, specifically working to transform organizations and leadership structures into ones that are striving to be more anti-racist and multicultural. Most recently, as the Executive Director at Stand for Children Washington, Libuse’s leadership positioned the organization as one of the most influential issue advocacy organizations in the state. While she has focused her work most recently on K-12 education, her skillset has been honed over years of applying coalition building, community engagement, policy research, and data analysis to drive results and to break down structural barriers that lead to systemic racism. Libuse’s approach extends from on-the-ground field outreach and mobilization to successful collaboration with families, community and opinion leaders, and lawmakers. Her unique strength is her ability to expand a coalition of stakeholders while never losing focus on history, data, and research as powerful tools that help inform change.Always motivated by the success of others, Libuse is a featured writer and lecturer under the umbrella of “Ten Ways to Change the World in Your Twenties,” also the title of the book she authored in 2009. Libuse currently serves as the co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee on the Board of Amara, and her work in education policy advocacy has twice been recognized by the Policy Innovators in Education (PIE) network as the ‘Game Changer’ policy of the year in both 2019 and 2016. She is also a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow’s Class of 2016 and the PIE Leadership Cohort of 2019.
