Responsible for managing and coordinating pharmacy activities at the Calea Hamilton site. Ensuring compliance with standards, regulations, and SOPs, optimizing service quality and patient safety. Manages pharmacy team, which includes pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, customer service and IV sterile compounding staff. Acts as a mentor to staff, and resolves inter-departmental issues. Oversees budget planning and control. Holds Designated Manager title as per Ontario College of Pharmacists requirement. Possesses extensive knowledge of pharmacy laws, internal practices, and ODB reimbursement.

Responsible for managing pharmacist and pharmacy assistant teams. Involved in scheduling, payroll, implementing strategic changes to work-flow and improving efficiencies within the pharmacy department. Actively role within the pharmacy department and managing requests from other departments like customer service, operations and inventory control. Work closely with other members of leadership on projects to help business needs.

Triaging, label checking and final release of prescriptions faxed in from the Home and Community Care Support Services (HCCSS) or directly from clinicians, communicating those prescriptions with HCCSS and ensuring correct supplies are ordered with those medications. Entering and checking TPN prescriptions, labels and compounded TPN, dispensing non-sterile compounded medication intended for palliative care, MAID-kit dispensing and destruction, after hours on-call shifts, checking labels and final products from sterile compounding and answering clinical questions posed by clinicians, individuals from the HCCSS, clients and their families.Additional activities outside the above mentioned; participated in multiple request for proposal (RFP) meetings with members from Customer service, warehouse and sales. Assisted in 3 HCCSS RN training sessions when the eclipse infusion pump was rolled out, as well as provided inservice training to other staff pharmacists, assistants and customer service representatives. Provided site tours and answered questions to both Hamilton Health Sciences TPN program and Temmy Latner group.

Checking prescriptions for accuracy, counseling on prescription medications and over the counter (OTC) products, administering vaccinations and collaboration with pharmacy assistants and technicians to accurately dispense prescription medications.Locations: SDM # 1403, 1510 & 970

Patient greeting and confirmation of accuracy of prescription information prior to filling, data entry of patient care information into HealthWatch, third-party adjudication, accurate dispensing prescription medications, maintenance of pharmacy stock through inventory control systems, general OTC enquiries from patients and referral to Pharmacist where required, handling customer prescription pick up. Some experience filling, billing and checking of compliance packs.Locations: SDM #1403 & 803

Aid in the transfer of patient files and medication information to a new system named Accuro. Responsible for providing consistent and accurate medication order entry for nephrology patients. Assist with obtaining and reviewing community pharmacy information for nephrology patients.

Responsibilities include filling medications for all acute care patients across the hospital, answering phones and completing request by healthcare professionals in the hospital. Other duties include rounding of various in-patient wards and delivering and retrieving medications (i.e. cart delivery or brown bags), medication orders and other supplies when needed.
