About Robert L Liddell, Ph.D.
Serving as the Assistant Vice President for Career Services at my alma mater, Florida State University, is an incredible honor. With a host of colleagues, we endeavor to mobilize and modernize the function of career services to maximize the student experience, stakeholder engagement, and outcomes. Through broad collaboration, we will ensure parity and equity in quality of delivery among academic colleges and units providing all students with a robust and customizable framework and delivery model that knits together academics, co-curricular activities, and career exploration for any career path. Externally, I serve as the University’s ambassador to employers building and sustaining relationships to maximize efforts and employment strategies with students and alumni while establishing FSU as a premier source of talent. Through balancing and integrating external metrics, stakeholder expectations, prevailing career-education practices, and current delivery models, we will establish, codify, and communicate clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability for an optimal mix of support between the career center and FSU’s academic colleges. Advance career-related metrics through the application of relevant data-collection techniques, analysis, and communication to establish alignment regarding priorities and implement a strategy to optimize performance. In addition to professional service (National Association of Colleges and Employers, Southern Association of Colleges and Employers, Florida Association of Colleges and Employers, and Tennessee Association of Colleges and Employers) and civic efforts (Leadership Chattanooga class of 2020; Leadership Tampa class of 2016), I am grateful to invest my life in my family and an expanding group of friends. I earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction: Higher Education Administration from the College of Education at the University of South Florida, Tampa. My dissertation sought to apply predictive modeling techniques to four conditions students may find themselves related to their merit aid award. In pursuing this topic, I investigated the impact of losing merit aid (Florida's Bright Futures Scholarship) on student persistence.
