I am honored and excited to be chosen as new board member of The International Council of Music Creators (CIAM). At CIAM, I will be part of the continuous work to safeguard the interests of songwriters and composers all over the world. Today, music creators work on a global scene and music is played on a global scene. I believe that CIAM has the ability to ensure that working conditions for creating music can be improved significantly.CIAM is recognised as the world’s largest alliance of songwriters and composers, representing over five hundred thousand professional music creators across five continents and serving as their global voice since 1966.

My company, Machinedrops, provides distribution of artists with a well-defined sound, thus making releases available on 460 digital music shops in 260 countries and streaming providers such as Spotify, WiMP and iTunes. I released artists like Rest In Beats, Lukkif, AndyOp and more. I've held the chair for almost six years and it felt like my identity in those years, my home. I believe I have made a difference, especially in gender balance, streaming, and the impact of artificial intelligence, but most importantly in terms of community. Reflecting nostalgically, I’d like to share some of the highlights I’ve enjoyed working on. My term as Chair began with a quarantine due to the pandemic, where the music industry was the first to shut down and the last to reopen. It was a baptism of fire in my core task to advocate for songwriters and composers, making their conditions visible and improving the framework.One of the issues closest to my heart has been the gender imbalance that unfortunately exists in the music industry. Therefore, I am pleased to look back and know that I was part of initiating a plan for better gender balance metrics. I pushed for Koda’s annual gender statistics, and in 2022, we secured an updated Public Service contract making sure all stations must now report gender statistics across platforms. Something I had long advocated for. The most important lesson I have learned in working on equality is that only when there are numbers is there a dialogue. We also launched ‘Trygt Rum (Safer Space) hotline to speak to an impartial professional if you experience bad behavior in the music industry. The fight to preserve the radio stations P6 BEAT and P8 JAZZ was another key effort. Despite many attempts to close them, we managed to ensure their survival. As a board member of CIAM, I have discussed the working conditions of songwriters worldwide.Back in 2019 I addressed and questioned the consequences of artificial intelligence in the way we listen to and create music. I have been a guest on my favorite podcast Prompt and other radio shows, together with Andreas Hemmeth, had articles in various newspapers.For me personally, it has been important, educational, challenging, unforgettable, and everything in between. Thank you.

Koda’s main purpose is to ensure that composers and songwriters gets the payment they are entitled to, when their music is performed and played publicly. Koda does so by making licensing agreements with everyone, who uses and offers music as part of their business – that includes TV and radio, streaming services, cafés and restaurants, as well as shops, music festivals and fitness centers.Every time a member of Koda creates a piece of music, Koda handles their rights, thus ensures that the payment for the public performance of the music, is sent to the people who have created the music – at home and abroad.An agreement with Koda secures the right to use music from all over the world.Nearly every country in the world has a Koda-like organization that registers the use of music in their own territory, in order to pay creators every time, no matter where the music is played. In that way, Koda is a part of an essential musical eco-system.

Together with Jullie Hjetland I composed and performed the historic play Peer Gynt. Originally Grieg composed the music, which is still today known for most people. It was with respect and honour that we recomposed music for the play in this modernized version only using a melody part of Solveig's song and mother Aases theme. We performed live singing, playing guitar, spds-drumpad and controllers with clips and synthezisers (Ableton Push). Critics received the music very well, the distinguished paper Weekendavisen emphasized the music and wrote “The promising power is no less than Grieg, and often the dreamlike, adventurous and unmistakably Nordic fundamental tone balancing Ibsen's universalism is spot-on – so much that it might look like a miracle".Berlingske: "Jullie Hjetland and Anna Lidell are alternately on stage with their dreamy, spherical soundside, which convergently gives the universe deeper tones. Committee member of the fund of production for composers and songwriters in Denmark, DJBFA. Together with Lars Charlie from Jellinge Festival and the musician Anders Banke, we had 4 yearly application rounds two years in a row, we went through 2.274 applications and funded music projects for 11.7 mio. danish kroner.
