My career in the documentary film industry started with Zelovic Productions where I scripted, directed and produced my own documentaries. After 20 years, Zelovic Productions grew into Zelovic Film, a company that I co-founded with my friend and colleague Rogier Kappers. We focus on creating personal films that bring small stories to a wide audience. My highest awards go to three widely recognised sequel documentary films:- Once Upon a Time, there was a country.. (1999, 12 minutes), nominated for the best Dutch short movie at The Netherlands Film Festival- My Friends (2006, IKON/ARTE in coproduction with Pieter van Huystee/Zelovic Productions) - awarded for The Best international documentary, Belgrade Festival - My Own Private War (2016, IKON in co-production with Zelovic Productions) - world premiered at Vision du Reel/Compétition Internationale Moyens Métrages. The President Award at Sevastopol International Film Festival; The Best Human Rights film at Free Zone International FF; The Award MÉMOIRE DE LA MÉDITERRANÉE at PriMed Film Festival in Marseille; The First Prize Winner at Beyond the Borders, Castellorizo, Greece.
