Web Application DeveloperNoaa Fisheries Oct 2017 - May 2019Silver Spring, Maryland, UsWeb applications developer with Integrated Statistics for NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service's Fisheries Sampling Branch.Developer with the Pre-Trip Notification System (PTNS) re-design in 2017. The PTNS ensures fair and accurate observer coverage of the $1.2 billion Federal fisheries from New Jersey to Maine, managed under nine fishery management plans (FMPs).Commercial fishermen in this region landed about 599 million pounds in 2015 of finfish and shellfish, and the Northeast Fisheries Observer Program (NEFOP) and the At-Sea Monitoring Program (ASM) collects, processes and manages data and biological samples obtained during commercial fishing trips. These data are collected by trained fishery observers for scientific and fisheries management purposes. The PTNS application processes mandatory fishing notifications before sailing of over 2,000 commercial vessels for nearly 15,000 departures per fishing year, resulting in over 1,200 observed trips last year.My role on the PTNS2 team was development of the Reporting, Dashboard, and Bulletins applications. The Reports application serves 19 standard reports to NOAA regulatory staff on demand; the Dashboard application contains 11 real-time tools that display and adjust the selection algorithm performance; and the Email Bulletins application gives regulatory staff the ability to create reports, designate recipients, and schedule reoccurring delivery of these reports. -
