The School Improvement Council (SIC) is composed of parents, teachers, members of the school administration and community representatives. The SIC serves as a strategic advisory group to help plan the future of the school and to engage in a continual process of improvement of the school.

The RMSC Association strives to fulfill the vision of RMSCA, to raise funds and generate support for RMSC, to enhance educational opportunities and awareness of the sciences, to benefit the students, teachers, families, and communities served.

• Formed team of seven students for the First Lego League robotics competition.• Coached team in their inaugural season, culminating in Core Values award at the Abbeville Qualifier.• Coordinated numerous interviews with experts in the engineering field, and organized appropriate field trips.

Conduct monthly monitoring on two local sites within the Reedy River watershed including chemical and bacterial.

• Organized and led educational hikes for groups of 5-25 children and adults into local natural areas. • Planned, researched and led educational hikes in the Upstate for families and homeschool groups.• Organized volunteering opportunities with conservation groups such as Conserving Carolina.

• Chaired audit committee; oversaw audit of US, Australia and Canada finances of the Latvian Girl Guides.• Coordinated audit teams, and communicated results to organization leaders.

• Appointed to the Roper Mountain Science Center Advisory Council by School Board Trustee District 22 Representative, Lynda Leventis-Wells. • Provided input pertaining to the mission of the RMSC through a strategic plan process that addresses programs, facilities, and projects for a five year period, with the objective of ensuring that RMSC programs and services continue to effectively support and enhance classroom instruction as well provide opportunities for community access to the Center’s unique, educational resources.

• Assisted in all aspects of planning and organizing the Latvian Scout World Jamboree that takes place every four years.• Responsible for media relations including press releases, social media and dissemination of information. • Designed and sourced production of camp memorabilia and keepsakes.• Created 100+ page memory book, and handled all logistics associated with printing and shipping.

• Elinor Bridges Volunteer of the Year award 2017-2018• Re-established and maintained the school gardens, integrating the vegetable, herb and butterfly gardens into the curriculum and life of the school. • Planned and conducted annual maintenance and upkeep including: repairs to irrigation system, fall and spring planting, regular weeding, and equipment acquisition and updates.• Found educational and financial resources, organized help and support, and publicized garden achievements.• Established student programs such as a “garden to classroom” salsa-making activity, secured funding and materials, coordinated with teachers and volunteers, and directed programs. • Wrote grant applications to fund improvements and garden programming.• Developed contacts at local organizations such as Greenville County Soil & Water Conservation District, Clemson Extension, and Greater Greenville Master Gardeners.

• Wildland Firefighter qualifications: FFT2, ENOP, PLDO, RXCM, FALB and HECM trainee.• Conducted prescribed burns totaling over 10,000 acres annually • Implemented federal fire effects monitoring programs on the Refuge (FIREMON).• Implemented other refuge monitoring programs such as deer browse surveys, turkey population surveys and herbicide effects monitoring. • As a forestry technician, cruised timber sales, marked timber, calculated volume reports, monitored active sales, generated stand maps and organized timber sale records. • Assisted with endangered species monitoring programs. • Maintained refuge GIS database: generated maps and records, spatially referenced information needed for biological reviews and general management. • Developed and maintained websites for Piedmont NWR and Bond Swamp NWR, www.fws.gov/piedmont and www.fws.gov/bondswamp.

• Member of the Forest Inventory and Analysis crew working out of Gaylord, Michigan. • Used aerial photography and orienteering to locate historic plots• Conducted vegetation measurements and collected data on stand composition and recruitment, timber volume, forest health and other measurements.
