I first developed an interest in coding many years ago when I randomly came across a Khan Academy tutorial for basic Javascript. Since then, my journey has taken me from Norway to the United States as an international student-athlete pursuing a Computer Science major. My goal has been to immerse myself in the world of software engineering while playing high level volleyball, all in the pursuit of discovering my desired career path.Through coursework from various coding classes both in Norway and here in Oregon, I have gained experience with C, Python, HTML, CSS, and some understanding of JavaScript and C++. Now, I have a strong foundation in data analysis and software engineering principles, with experience in algorithm analysis, recursion techniques, debugging, abstract data types and their properties. I have also experience with digital tools like Geogebra and PASCO Capstone for mathematical analysis and data collection.In addition to my academic pursuits, my diverse international background has played a significant role in shaping my skills. I was born in Lithuania and moved to Norway when I was 8 before moving to the US for college. Fluent in multiple languages including Lithuanian, Norwegian, and English, with a beginner level in Spanish, I have developed a good understanding and appreciation for different cultures as well as the ability to adapt to a new environment more quickly, and communicate effectively across different settings.Another significant factor for my technical skills is my time as a D1 volleyball player for the OSU Women’s volleyball team and as a member of the Norwegian National Women’s volleyball team. Many years of volleyball and fitness have given me an extraordinary teamwork ability, skillful leadership, proficiency in time management and effective management of hectic workloads.Lastly, I have also engaged in practical experiences, including a role as a Carpenter Assistant at Harestad bygg AS, where I contributed to construction operations and enhanced structures by working with various materials. I also have experience as a Grocery Store Clerk at Extra Tasta where I handled inventory, ensured eco-friendly waste management, and provided customer service.With my academic knowledge, technical skills, and practical experiences I look forward to contributing to innovative projects in the dynamic world of Software engineering.
