I write copy based on user research and I share my experience in in-company courses on writing for the web. Working as a conversion copywriter is just a dream come true: - I don't have to guess what arguments I should use to convince people - I simply KNOW because of our user research- I regularly have my copy A/B tested, which motivates me to write better copy than the previous time, every single time- And of course, every A/B test teaches me a ton about what works and what doesn't work in online copywriting- I'm lucky to be part of a top-notch multidisciplinary team of information architects, usability experts, user researchers, and conversion rate optimizers. They teach me something new every day.

I don't think I've ever worked at a place where I got that many opportunities that fast: - I was asked to be dedicated copywriter and final editor for recruitment communication for Colruyt Group- This way, I became the final editor of a team of copywriters and I watched over the corporate house style in writing- I was also asked to make short videos for HR on specific functions within Colruyt Group: this included managing the project and deadlines, contacting the interviewee, preparing and conducting the interviews while filming, discussing possible editing options with the video editors, adding subtitles and writing the copy for Facebook and Twitter- I got to meet all kinds of people within this company of 30,000: data analysts, shop assistants, event managers ...- I got to write for big Belgian brands such as Dreamland and Dreambaby- I wrote online copy (web copy, Facebook competitions, banner ads etc.) as well as offline copy (banners, flyers, posters, etc.)I'd recommend anyone who wants to try a lot of different aspects of communication to go get tons of experience at Colruyt Group.

Schrijf.be gave me the chance to get acquainted with every text type. Which I took! SEO web pages, sales letters and the occasional speech. Translations, technical documents and Facebook posts. Adapting Dutch texts for a Flemish audience, ... Was there something that needed to be written? Then we did it.When I was not writing, I was checking other copywriters' work to make sure our customers received texts with impeccable grammar, spelling and punctuation. And in line with our style guide - or the guidelines the customers had given us. All of us were not only copywriters, but also our own account managers and project managers. We were responsible for our the quotes, follow up and customer satisfaction of our own projects. Every month we evaluated our numbers and the way we overcame obstacles.

From short pieces about newly elected prime ministers far away to a story about Libyan civilians getting medical care in Brussels: an intern gets a lot of opportunities at De Morgen. I attended press conferences, interviewed Greek, Portuguese and Spanish teachers about the crisis in their country, I translated articles from Spanish to Dutch, ... My 11 weeks at this national newspaper were a very good school and made me realize what I love most in life: writing.
