It shook my confidence and made me doubt what I was doing with my life. I felt like the world was wide open and I had nowhere to go in the same breath.The job search was daunting. I kept spinning my wheels. I had no direction and just started applying anywhere I thought I could sell myself in an interview. I felt desperate - only focused on how I could be the best x for each company.I quickly burned myself out with all the pressure and stress but eventually I landed a job that I knew, right off the bat, wasn’t right for me.I was pretty miserable. I felt stuck and all I knew was that I didn’t want this. Finally I realized if I wasn’t looking out for me (and the company wasn’t looking out for me), no one was looking out for me. Which meant I had a problem.So I started asking myself the hard questions - what did I want? My first answer was - I don’t know - so how could I figure that out? This started me on a journey of self-discovery that I now go through with a lot of my clients. Because when we don’t know where we’re going, it’s impossible to get “there.”Eventually, I narrowed it down to two options - and one felt scarier - so I took the easier way. Once I decided what direction to go in, it felt easy to find roles I actually wanted. I figured out how to get my resume noticed, how to leverage my network and how to show up in an interview powerfully. I was fueled by knowing what I wanted and started gaining confidence again, even though I was totally switching industries. I landed my new role in 27 days - got the offer call while on vacation at Disney. It felt like a fairytale.But I soon noticed that the second option - my dream of becoming a coach - was what I really wanted. Because I was burning myself out yet again in this new role. I felt like I was on this never-ending hamster wheel of hustle. But going out on my own meant betting on myself and trusting myself in ways I’d never imagined. It made me challenge my old fears of not being good enough. I had to stop running from my emotions and chasing perfection. I learned about forgiveness, boundaries and self-validation. I put myself back in the driver’s seat of my life.Now I take my clients through the processes that I’ve learned (and now honed). Processes that help you find and land the job you want. Processes that help you connect with yourself, foster confidence and bring calm and clarity into your life.
