I am an artist, designer, filmmaker, and creative producer and director based in London. I'm the founder and director of the media arts studio The Light Surgeons, which I established in 1995 that has pioneering experiential work and live video design for events.My work crosses a diverse range of media and forms: from producing and directing a range of award winning documentary films, animations, and music videos, to the creation of large-scale, immersive installations and experiences for major cultural institutions and brands.I have a background in graphic design, film, and photography, and through my collaborative work at The Light Surgeons, I have developed many groundbreaking live cinema performances that have toured internationally.My artistic work explores social-political themes through psycho-geographies of people and place. Through this work I aim to provoke audiences to contemplate philosophical questions about the human condition through the interweaving of narrative, music, and an experimental approach to moving image and creative technology. Primary research and a documentary methodology are central to many of my artistic projects, which often combine field recordings and interviews that are woven together to unite multiple voices and perspectives around their subjects. I direct, co-direct, and creatively produce these projects through my company The Light Surgeons Ltd and I have been luck to work with many leading musical talents, composers, sound designers, filmmakers, architects, furniture designers, and pioneering creative technologists on a wide array of different artistic and design projects.I aim to continue to forge new creative collaborations and to make work that fuses different approaches to art, design, technology, and research to explore new approaches to narrative and digital media experiences in multiple contexts.I'm currently interested in developing co-created work and new approaches to immersive storytelling. I am currently teaching the MA Narrative Environments at Central Saint Martins and will start in September as a Research Fellow at Norwich University of the Arts in their new Immersive Data Visualisation Lab.I'm open for projects, collaborations, and any freelance work in creative direction, creative producing, film production, and post-production - get in touch if you have a project or think I could fit into a team!
