Provided expert advice and guidance to applicants, ensuring proposals aligned with local planning policies and statutory regulations.• Presented the LPA's position and defended decisions in appeal cases related to changes of use class, particularly from Use Class C3 to C2, by drafting comprehensive statements of case and representing the authority’s stance before the Planning Inspectorate.• Evaluated and determined full planning applications for diverse developments, including Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs), outbuildings, granny annexes, and changes of use to takeaway (sui generis) as well as plant installations. Ensured all applications adhered to the LPA’s planning policies and guidelines.• Assessed and issued decisions on householder applications for various types of extensions, front porches, loft conversions, outbuildings, and the formation of vehicular crossovers. Ensured compliance with planning policies, design standards, and local plan.• Scrutinised and determined the lawfulness of permitted development proposals under Classes A to E of the General Permitted Development Order, including additions and alterations, various types of extensions and loft conversions; and changes of use under the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987 (as amended), as well as operating offices for private hire vehicles.• Coordinated the discharge of planning conditions, including conditions related to cycle and refuse storage, landscaping, external materials and CO2 emissions reduction. Ensured all conditions were met in line with the LPA’s policies.• Reviewed and processed non-material amendment applications, addressing changes such as modifications to roof forms, realignment of fenestration, and the repositioning of extensions.
