Pre Op Assessment Clinician
Significantly increased productivity /efficiency in preoperative assessment clinic by re-organising procedures & utilising the clinical skills of non-qualified nursing staff to enable 3 additional patients per day, or 15 per week, to be assessed prior to surgery. In addition, as the sole permanent nurse-employee in a preoperative assessment clinic, supported by a pool of bank nurses it was my responsibility to report weekly electronically & accurately the clinic activity/KPIs to non-clinical personnel within the organisation.

The Falkland Islands (South Atlantic overseas territory of the UK) - King Edward Memorial HospitalA 12-week Theatre Sister agency assignment to the remote and isolated Falkland Islands was extended to 12 months at the request of Resident Surgeon and Hospital Director. This was a unique opportunity to test my skills & leadership. For example, we converted an unused space into a dedicated endoscopy suite for 2 weeks, 4 times a year, to receive patients for upper and lower GI scopes. Additional responsibilities in this role included pre-op-assessment, post-op wound care, wounds swabs for culture when indicated, dressing change, suture removal. This role required a 24-hour, 7 day a week on call commitment. Contracted to fulfil 37.5 hrs/wk & 'round the clock', 7/7, on call commitment.Vanguard Healthcare - Containerized Operating Theatres, ScotlandIn a mobile operating theatre environment, I was assigned to deliver scrub skills to NHS patients receiving major orthopaedic & general surgery. Practicing in a containerized solution originally designed for disaster relief, later used in UK by NHS to manage patients on waiting lists (“NHS Waiting List Initiative"). As surgery occurred away from the usual support and resources, I was required to ensure all staff involved were highly organised and prepared. Contracted to fulfil 37.5+ hrs/wk, Mon-Sun.The Channel Islands (British dependency islands) - Princess Elizabeth Hospital / St Helier HospitalAn initial 6-week agency assignment to The Channel Islands became an on/off 2-year duration at the request of the host hospitals. In each hospital I was assigned to deliver scrub skills across multiple specialties, practicing in line with the local, non-NHS model of patient care, therefore requiring me to fully familiarize myself with local policies & protocols, while drawing upon existing knowledge & skills acquired in UK public & private hospitals. Contracted to fulfil 37.5+ hrs/wk, Mon-Sun & ad-hoc on call commitment.

Following my own participation at a national 3-day AO Trauma training course I collaborated with a local AO Trauma Synthes rep to provide an abridged 1-day version, in-house, training event at no cost to the hospital. "Principles of Fracture Management" resulted in certificated evidence of 8 hours CPD for all those who attended
