Hello! My name is Lila Barron, and I am in my second year at American University. I'll graduate in Spring 2026 with my BA in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government (CLEG), along with Undergraduate Certificates in Leadership Studies and Politics, Policy, and Law. Further, I am a combined BA/MPA student, allowing me to graduate with me Master's in Public Administration in Spring 2027. At AU, I am part of the Politics, Policy, and Law Scholars three-year program and the School of Public Affairs Leadership Program.In addition to being dedicated to my course load, I pride myself on my community engagement as I participate in AU Student Government, Voters of AU, March for Our Lives AU, the Emerging Eagles Program, and my sorority, Sigma Delta Tau. I've received the Dean's List recognition for my work over the past two semesters, and I am honored to have won 2nd place in the Best Writing Studies Research Paper Library Awards with my paper "Thoughts and Prayers Are Not Enough: A Comprehensive Guide to Reducing Gun Violence in Michigan."Even more, I've gained valuable experience through my dedicated work for Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow, the OneCampaign of the Michigan Democratic Party, U.S. Congresswoman Haley Stevens's Re-Election Campaign, the Birmingham-Bloomfield Area Democratic Club, and Hollister, Co. I currently work as a Program Coordinator for the Politics, Policy, and Law Scholars Program and a Sophomore Fellow for the School of Public Affairs Leadership program.I was a 2023 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Detroit Country Day School. As a high school student, I was the 2023 Recipient of the National School Choral Award and was involved in Concert Choir, Bella Voce (honors choir), Model United Nations, UNICEF, Global Youth Leadership Initiative, Global Education Benchmark Group, Forensics Club and Team, Tennis, and Volleyball.As I advance in my career, I'm excited to gain further experience in the political, legal, and policymaking worlds in Washington, D.C. and Michigan!
