Hi, my name is Lilah Speca and I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am currently a junior studying Marketing at the Kelley School of Business and minoring in Apparel Merchandising at Indiana University. I had the opportunity to be a dancer at the IU Dance Marathon on the marketing committee for IUDM 2022, a Promotional-Videos Chair in 2023, and I'm excited to be serving as the 34th Director of Marketing for IUDM 2024. I've also enjoyed being the Vice President of IU's women’s club volleyball team for the last two years because I have always loved volleyball and I have the opportunity to lead the club through my executive position. I also had the opportunity to intern abroad this past summer in Milan. This experience allowed me to learn more about other cultures and diversify my educational experience.In high school, I was involved in a dance marathon called MiniTHON. I learned more about leadership and developed a love for marketing from this experience. As a chair for MiniTHON, I was responsible for guiding the organization of the event, reaching out to professionals and businesses to gain sponsorships, and running social media accounts to promote the event. I decided to join the marketing committee for Indiana University's Dance Marathon because of the positive experience I had with MiniTHON. In the marketing committee, we create content for IUDM's social media by taking photographs and promotional videos at IUDM events. Additionally, I have been able to collaborate and lead at IU as the Vice President of the women's club volleyball team. I am responsible for organizing the club's travel plans, booking tournaments, organizing fundraisers, and coordinating with the university to assure we have met club protocols. I frequently meet with the other club officers and we collaborate to make improvements to our leadership and the culture of our club. Being apart of IUDM and my volleyball team has allowed me to develop my leadership skills and find a passion for collaboration.I hope to gain more experience in marketing and merchandising through future internships, leadership positions, and making connections with industry professionals. Additionally, I hope to become more involved in my clubs and create new opportunities for the club participants. I am excited about my future opportunities at Indiana University and pursuing a career in marketing.
